THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On his Facebook page on Tuesday evening, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan appreciated Rahul’s stand on the Sabarimala issue and pointed out the difference between the state and national Congress Committees and politicians on over this issue.

The chief minister welcomed Rahul Gandhi’s view on allowing women to enter Sabarimala as per the Supreme Court’s orders. “It has once more become clear that Rahul Gandhi’s view is that of the All India Congress Committee which observed that the verdict was indeed historical. It is really unfortunate that the view of the All India Congress Committee’s president is not shared by the State Congress. “

Pinarayi Vijayan said that the State Congress’ stance exposed its anti-democratic nature. “This clearly shows that the State Congress has move away from its values. A section of the people is still supporting the old customs. This is clear proof that the State Congress has moved away from its ideologies. However, such its stance is also going to help the BJP and its conforms to Sangh Parivar stance,” Pinarayi said.

Earlier in a meeting with select senior journalists in Indore , Congress President Rahul Gandhi talked in favour of women’s entry in Sabaimala but quickly added that his views differed from that of his party and he submitted to the views of his party as people including women supported the ban.

He made these statements while answering the questions of The Economic Times reporter.
