PARAVUR: Six persons were arrested for allegedly abusing a 14-year-old girl after pretending to be her lovers and friends. Vadakkekara police have arrested Neendoor native Ajay Joy (19), Vadakkekara native Sharanjith (21), Pattanam Alumparambu native Albin (24) Pooyappilli native Sherine Kumar (alias Baby, 32), Neendoor native Arun Peter (21) and Ezhikkara native Rohit (21).

Following this, CPM Chittattukara West Local Committee Pooyappilli branch member Sherine was removed from the party’s primary membership.
Police said Ajay Joy and Sharanjith were the girls’ lovers and other accused were their friends.

According to the case, the duo frequented the house of the girl, a ninth standard student, and sexually abused her. The incident came to light after the girl’s gold chain went missing and her parents started searching for it.

The girl had revealed that Sharanjith had borrowed her gold chain in order to clear his debt. The girl’s mother and school authorities lodged a complaint with Vadakkekara police after this.

Police could get more information after examining her mobile phone. The accused were produced in the court and remanded in police custody.
