PATHANAMTHITTA: The women family members of Malayara youths who were arrested recently following the clashes at Nilakkal over young women’s entry in Sabarimala has approached Pandalam royal family, seeking legal help in the case.

The women alleged that police had arrested the descendants of Talappara Velan, who is traditionally related to Sabarimala, and were now torturing them in police custody.

Police had arrested two youths for holding Namajapa yajnam at Nilakkal. It was their mothers who went to meet the Pandalam palace representatives.
The youths in the custody of Pathanamthitta police are Chittar Pambini Puthuparambu native Jayaraj (30), Pambini Mammoodu native Abhilash (32). They had been arrested by Pathanamthitta police chief special squad.

They were produced in the Ranni court and remanded in Poojappura jail. The family came to know of the arrest only after searching for their missing youths.

Jayaraj’s mother Tulasi Raj, Abhilash’s mother Thankamma and their relatives reached the Pandalam palace and met P G Sasi Kumar Varma and P N Narayana Varma.

Travancore Maharani Aswathy Thirunnal and Gouri Lakshmi Bhai and Sabarimala Karma Samithy State coordinator K Krishnan Kutty were also present in the palace at this time.

The Royal family members assured the women of all possible help.
