When the Metoo movement is making waves in societies across the world, Malayalam actress Parvathy has come out with a startling revelation. Without calling out on any personalities, she says she was sexually abused at a tender age of four.
She made this shocking revelation on Wednesday at a session of Miami film festival that is going on in Mumbai. “Such an incident happened when I was just a child of four years. I couldn’t comprehend what had happened then. It took 17 years to sink in… Again it took another 12 years to say this in the open.
What happened to me afterwards was true and it didn’t happen just because I am a woman. Ultimately, I am an individual. What is more important is to overcome this state of mind. It is very difficult to convince the mind about this every day,” she said.
Parvathy, a founder-member of Women in Cinema Collective in Malayalam Cinema, had come out in support of Metoo campaign at its early stage.
This is also said to be one of the reasons for inviting her to Miami Film Festival.
