Actor Vikram is all set to come back to Mollywood. According to the reports, he will feature in a period drama directed by Anwar Rasheed. The movie is said to be based on the Malabar rebellion. The Malabar rebellion was an armed uprising in 1921 against British authority in the Malabar region of Southern India by Mappilas and the culmination of a series of Mappila revolts that recurred throughout the 19th century and early 20th century.

Vikram is expected to portray the role of freedom fighter Variankunnath Kunjahammed Haji. The movie will be released in 2021, which marks the centenary of Malabar rebellion. The official declaration will be made soon. Director I V Shashi had helmed a movie based on the Malabar rebellion titled '1921' which featured Mammootty in the lead role.

The movie will be scripted by Harshad, who has also scripted 'Unda', by Khalid Rahman featuring Mammootty as a police officer.

Vikram last appeared in Malayam in 'Indriam' in 2000. He has appeared in nine Malayalam movies including Dhruvam, Sainyam and Mafia. Vikram is currently working in a movie directed by Rajesh M Selva. Anwar Rasheed is directing 'Trance' after a 6-year-long hiatus since Ustad Hotel. Trance will feature off screen couple Fahadh Fazil and Nazriya Nazeem in the lead roles.
