THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After several hours-long attempt to control the fire that had broken out in Manvila, the flames have been completely extinguished by the fire force and the police. The manufacturing unit and the godown were completely destroyed in fire. Rs 500 cr loss is estimated. Meantime, fire force chief DGP A Hemachandran informed that a detailed investigation will be conducted on the incident. He added that the police and fire force will jointly investigate the incident.
A fire had broken out in the plastic manufacturing company ‘Family Plastics’ in Manvila near Menamkulam, Kazhakkoottam at 7 pm on Wednesday. Residents living nearby informed this to the company owners, fire force and police officers. The fire was first seen in the godown of the factory. There were about 450 staff in the company, and the accident happened while several of them came for the night shift. A huge disaster was avoided as they were immediately evacuated. 18-year old Jayaram Raghu fell unconscious after breathing the poisonous gas and he was immediately admitted to the medical college. The doctors said that Jayaram is out of danger. Another person is also admitted to the hospital after breathing poisonous gas. A fire had broken out at the same company two days ago.
