THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Giving a mysterious twist to the saddening story of violinist Balabhaskar’s end, his wife Lekshmi has spoken out, contradicting their car driver Arjun’s statement.
“At the time of accident, my child and I were sitting in the front left seat and Balabhaskar was resting in the back seat,” she told the police on Saturday.
Earlier, Arjun had given the statement that it was Balabhaskar who was driving the car at the time of accident. Lakshmi explained that Balabhaskar never used to drive the car during long-distance journeys.
As there is discrepancy in the statements of Lakshmi and driver, the investigation team is planning to make scientific examinations in the case.
The accident which proved fatal for Balabhaskar and her two-year-old daughter Tejaswini happened near CRPF camp along Pallipuram National highway at early morning on September 25. The car had lost control and rammed a tree. The daughter died on the spot while the violinist succumbed to his injuries in a City hospital days later. Lakshmi and Arjun were also seriously injured.
