ALAPPUZHA: An RSS worker who spread fake photos so as to incite animosity against police on religious grounds was arrested by police on Monday.

It was Alappuzha Kulanjikarayma Chempakapally native Rajesh R Kurup who was arrested by Mannar police.

The photoshopped photo showed police stamping on an Ayyappa devotee, who has his Irumudi tied to his head and an Ayyappa idol in his hand. In another photo he is seen held at ‘sickle-point’

As soon as the photo started spreading through social media, DYFI Chennithala area secretary Sharat Babu gave a complaint to district police chief. He was arrested after that and granted bail.

Rajesh Kurup himself has appeared in the photo-shoot. A case has been filed against him.
