KOTTAYAM: A lower court has concluded that murder of Kottayam native Kevin, who had been abducted by his wife’s relatives, was a case of honour killing.

The Kottayam Sessions Court, which had accepted the arguments of the Prosecution, also instructed the counsel to complete the trial in the case within six months.

Kevin’s wife Neenu’s brother Shanu Chacko and team had abducted him on May 28 and later he was allegedly found murdered in a river.

After this, the Prosecution submitted a charge sheet in which Shanu Chacko was made the main accused. Neenu’s father Chacko was also charged for conspiring to kill Nevin.

In the charge sheet there is also murder charge against 12 persons. It is said in it that the accused had chased Kevin and drove him into the river.

186 witnesses’ statements and 118 documents were submitted along with the charge sheet. The prosecution also pleaded in the court to consider the crime as a case of honour killing.
