ALAPPUZHA: Two engineering students were charred to death after their bike burnt hitting a lorry on the national highway. The incident happened Thursday morning at 6.30 am at the TKM College junction at Nangiarkulangara.
The dead has been identified as Shankar Kumar (22), son of Sudha Kumari of Mavelikkara Ummernadu Nadapally House and Kiran Krishnan (21), son of Unnikrishnan of Chengannur Karakkod Kiran Nivas.
The bike collided with the lorry while proceeding to Nangiarkulangara from Haripad. Soon after hitting the lorry, the bike was in flames.
Though the natives tried to douse the flames, it did not find any result. By the time, the fire force from Haripad reached the spot, Shankar Kumar had lost his life. The body is kept at the mortuary of Haripad Taluk Hospital.
Though seriously injured Kiran was taken to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, his life could not be saved.
The two were engineering students of Coimbatore. They met with the accident while coming to their hometown with their friends.
