KOCHI: Kerala high court has observed that the strikes held in Sabarimala for preventing women’s entry in the temple were against the Supreme Court order.
The court made this comment while considering the bail plea submitted by Thripunnithura native Govind Madhusoodanan, who had been arrested in connection with Sabarimala violence.
The Single bench court also rejected the bail plea, saying that violence in Sabarimala could not be justified.
The court also didn’t accept the plea of the petitioner that he had taken part only in Namajapa prayers and not in violence.
“The petitioner had agitated against the Supreme Court order that women of all ages can enter Sabarimala. There is prima facie evidence against the person that shows his involvement in the violence. Granting bail would only result in the repetition of such incidents. The inquiry is in the primary stage,” the court explained.
The police had submitted in the court, videos and photos that proved the presence of the accused in spots where clashes occurred.
