THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There are hints the fire at Manvila plastic tragedy is result of sabotage attempt. Police have taken into custody two persons in this connection.

Those who are in custody are natives of Chirayinkeezhu and Kazhakoottam. Police have got evidence to show that one of them had bought lighter from Kazhakoottam ahead of the incident.

Recently the employees had to face salary cuts and it is suspected that the above workers set the factory on fire to avenge this.

Though police had brushed aside any sabotage attempt during the preliminary investigation, they started getting some clue on this by yesterday (Friday) night.

From the salary of the two persons, about Rs 3000 had been deducted and they had come out against this. Moreover, three persons who were dismissed from the factory were also seen hanging around near the factory on the day of the incident.

Police are questioning the persons taken into custody.
