THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP Loknath Behra has warned that security should be beefed up at Sabarimala as there are several threats from terrorist groups and extremist organizations. He issued the warning on the basis of the intelligence report prepared by several state and central agencies. Special commissioner had submitted a report in the high court that a clash is likely during the pilgrimage season. The warning was issued after this.
It has been estimated that the terrorists will reach Sannidhanam as devotees. District police chief, state intelligence and special branch CID should be alert. Explosives will be brought to the coasts of Kerala. Therefore, police chiefs of coastal districts should be alert about this. The movements of terrorists should be checked with the help of agencies from other districts.
Explosives may be brought in the ‘irumudikettu’. Many terrorist groups are capable of creating an explosion though they are not present at the spot. Water tanks, electric connections, sanctum sanctorum, Malikappuram temple, Ganapathy temple and parking spots should be checked. The things that are brought from Pampa should also be checked properly. Identity proof of those who reach Sannidhanam wearing khakis should also be checked.
