THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former high court judge justice Kamal Pasha said that Sabarimala is symbol of secularism and any devotee can visit Sabarimala with an ‘irumudikkettu’. Rituals should have a chronicle change. Today’s ritual maybe a stupidity tomorrow, said Pasha during the disclosure of ten books written by novelist V Radhakrishnan.

“Women themselves are the enemy of women. They see other women in a disgraced manner. When a women tried to cover her breasts, there were incidents where other women isolated her. About sixteen thousand women had staged a protest to bring back ‘Sati’. What if similar protests get staged now? Such incidents result from women’s ignorance. We see such ignorance in Sabarimala as well. Rituals should have a chronicle change. Earlier, Sabarimala temple was opened only in the pilgrimage season. However, as the number of devotees increased, it was decided to open the temple in every month. This started a new ritual. Rituals should be changed as the culture changes. Now, we are trying to practise a culture, which is not even being practised by tribal people. We are returning to the seventeenth century with such customs and rituals. This should npt happen”, said Kamal Pasha.
