KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday morning had declared void the election of K M Shaji from the Azhikkode constituency. The court passed the order on the plea filed by his opponent Nikesh Kumar. Now, Veena George MLA has also landed in a similar controversy. It has been alleged that Veena campaigned communally using religious symbols.
V R Soji, chief election agent of K Sivadasan Nair who was the UDF candidate in Aranmula has moved the court seeking to disqualify Veena. He alleges that Veena used bible and holy cross with her photograph during the eletion campaign. A similar plea was denied by the court in 2017. The complainants have clarified that they expect a supporting verdict from the Supreme Court.
