THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Viji, the wife of Neyyattinkara native Sanal Kumar who was ‘pushed to death’ by former Neyyattinkara DySP Harikumar, will fast for a day in protest against the failure of the police to arrest the accused till date.

She will fast on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the family members said they would approach the high court, seeking CBI inquiry into Sanal’s death.

In the joint petition to be filed jointly by Viji, her father Vargheese and Action Council president Vishnupuram Chandrasekharam, they would make a plea to either hand over the case to the CBI or conduct the inquiry under the supervision of the high court.

Sanal's wife Viji had said on Sunday that she was not happy with the ongoing investigation, which is led by investigating officer Antony KM, Crime Branch SP.

“I have no trust in the current team of police officers...the accused is still absconding. Two days ago, I wrote to the Kerala government expressing my displeasure over the pace at which the investigation is going and requested them to hand over the case to a more responsible IPS officer. I hope the government will consider my request and do what is necessary. The Crime Branch SP came to see me on Friday; he just said he would investigate the case...,” she said.

Sanal died on Monday night after he was hit by a car during a quarrel with Harikumar over car parking. According to witnesses, Harikumar pushed Sanal onto the road and a car that came that way hit him.

Harikumar was suspended following the incident and a case has been registered against him under IPC Section 302 (punishment for murder). He had gone into hiding soon after the incident.
