sabarimala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government is responsible for ensuring protection for women who reach Sabarimala since the Supreme Court has clarified that the earlier verdict allowing women of all ages has not been stayed. The situation is not similar to those days when the temple was opened for the monthly poojas of Thulam and Chithira Atta Visesham, because the temple will get opened for 64 days for the pilgrimage season.

The temple will get opened on November 16 and it will get closed on December 27 for the Mandala Pooja. It will again be opened on December 30 and will close on January 20. Petta Thullal is on January 11. Makara Vilakku is on January 14. Supreme court will consider the review pleas on January 22. The police should ensure security during the whole pilgrimage season. Rahul Easwar and several organizations have clarified that they will not allow women to enter Sabarimala.

Therefore, police have a very tough job in ensuring the security. More than ten thousand policemen will be deployed at Sabarimala. They will be deployed as five stages. South zone ADGP Anil Kanth is the chief police co-ordinator. Manoj Abraham is responsible for deploying the police officers. One company women police officers and 30 women commandos will also be deployed.

Devaswom board has decided to place CCTV cameras in Pampa and nearby areas. Watch towers will also be constructed to observe the people coming to visit the temple.
