THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Devaswom commissioner N Vasu clarified that devaswom board may file a plea seeking more time to implement women entry at Sabarimala. A legal advise will be sought for this and a decision will be taken after clearly evaluting the situation, he added. He clarified this following the Supreme Court's decision not to stay the verdict allowing women entry at Sabarimala. Meantime, devaswom ninster Kadakampally Surendran said that the government cannot seek more time and he expressed his hopes in the all-party meet today.
The political spectrum of the state is looking forward to the all-party meet and the government's decision following the meet. Government will not be able to withdraw from implementing the women entry politically and legally, as the supreme court has not stayed the earlier verdict. If the government do so, it will be contempt of court.
However, UDF and BJP have not yet changed their stands on the issue. BJP leaders said that women will not be allowed to enter the temple, no matter what the court say. Congress leaders said that all sides of the issue should be discussed in the all-party meet with an open mind. BJP is trying to keep the issue active till the upcoming parliament elections.
