KOCHI: After the high court harshly criticised the police and the government over Sabarimala mess, Advocate General (AG) appeared in the court in person and submitted that there had been a planned attempt to create problems in Sabarimala.
“It was Hindu Aikyavedi activists and RSS men who created problems at Nadapandal and police have arrested only these persons,” the AG told the court.
AG submitted in the high court a circular issued by the BJP that party members should reach Sabarimala in groups.
To this the court replied that “all parties have their own agendas”.
The court asked whether the government had implemented its order to appoint a special team in Sabarimala. It also asked whether a woman officer of IG rank was appointed in Sabarimala.
“Arresting protesters is not an issue and what is of concern is the inconvenience the real devotees are going through..,” the court said.
When asked why devotees were not allowed to take rest at Nadapandal, AG said there were separate places for women and children to rest. Earlier, the court had criticised the police for their highhandedness in Sabarimala. After this it asked AG to be present in person to explain the police action. AG appeared in the court heeding to this direction.
