PONKUNNAM: A young woman was stopped at Ponkunnam in Kottayam by BJP activists suspecting she was on her way to Sabarimala temple on Wednesday . Andhra Pradesh native Shailaja was blocked by a group of activists here.

“She had planned to stay at Erumeli until her brothers returned after darshan. She is presently staying at a hotel at Erumeli and will return to Andhra Pradesh with her brothers,” police said.

The police got control of the situation and she was transferred to Erumeli under police protection.
