BENGALURU: Putting an end to all speculations, Minister Mathew T Thomas is all set to step down. There was trouble brewing in the state unit of the Janata Dal (S) -- the third largest ally of the CPM led LDF Government for quite some time. JD (S) national general secretary Danish Ali said a letter on it will be given to the chief minister.

State chief K Krishnan Kutty will replace Thomas. Ali said Thomas has informed to step down after approving the decision of the national leadership. Though there are differences of opinion in the party, the JD (S) will not split at all. The change is as per the deal made in 2016. There was an agreement that Thomas would relinquish the ministership in favour of Krishnankutty once the government completed the half way mark of its five year term.
