K Krishnankutty, the designated minister of Janata Dal (S) is likely to be sworn in on Tuesday. The party decided to replace Mathew T Thomas, Minister for Water Resources, with party veteran K Krishnankutty and had asked the former to step down. The party’s explanation was that there was an agreement that Thomas would relinquish the ministership in favour of Krishnankutty once the Pinarayi government completed the half way mark of its five year term. However, actor and director Joy Mathew has criticised this decision through a Facebook post. Joy Mathew lauded the achievements of Mathew T Thomas as a minister and criticised Krishnankutty’s desire to become a minister. The people should suffer in order to fulfil leaders wish to become a minister, he said sarcastically. With Krishnankutty becoming minister, the taxpayers can be happy for having solved the problems faced by Kerala, he wrote in the post.
