KASARAGOD: In protest against the arrest of BJP General Secretary K Surendran, the party workers on Sunday staged a protest march to a programme attended by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The chief minister was here to lay the foundation stone for a new medical college at Ukkinadukke. Police blocked the agitators a few metres away from the venue where Pinarayi chose to come from another route avoiding trouble from the agitating BJP men.

A large number of police personnel were deployed in the area as part of providing fool proof security to the chief minister.
