KANNUR: It has been decided to build the proposed national highway in Kannur through the paddy fields of Keezhattoor, This is contrary to the promise given by the central government and the BJP. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a notification asking land owners to produce the documents of their lands affected by this project. They are asked to produce the documents before November 12th.

Nithin Gadkari had met 'Vayalkkilikal' who are protesting against the alignment, after informing the state government that the centre has no plans to change the alignment. This had landed in a controversy earlier.

"BJP has cheated us. It has been proven that CPM is the B-team of BJP when it comes to implementing corporate policies', said Suresh Keezhattur, leader of 'Vayalkkilikal'

However, CPM district secretary P Jayarajan has welcomed 'Vayalkkilikal' back to the party.
