assembly

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition has staged a protest in the assembly alleging that Pinarayi Vijayan’s speech extended beyond the allotted time. Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala alleged that Chief Minister spoke for 45 minutes, which is unusual and also said that this is contrary to the assembly procedures. Chief Minister replied that he spoke for 45 minutes because his health allows him to do so. Chennithala hit back at Pinarayi by saying that this is not the stage to show the chief minister’s health.

Chief Minister had given the reply together to all questions related to Kerala floods. This ignited a dispute from the opposition and Chennithala alleged that Chief Minister’s long speech violated other member’s rights. However, speaker pointed that when the assembly was informed earlier about clubbing the questions, no one had opposed to it. The opposition protested by raising placards and shouted slogans in front of speaker’s diaz.

Meantime, Chief Minister alleged that the opposition is trying to break the unity of Kerala. He also said that the central government has given Rs 600 Cr. for flood relief and he does not expect any more help from the centre.
