KOLLAM: BJP leader has gone underground after his speech disgracing women MLAs and their family members faced a backlash. BJP Kollam district secretary Vayaykkal Soman had gone hiding since November 19, when he made the controversial speech in the protest held againt K Surendran's arrest.
The police have imposed IPC 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 294 b (annoyance of others), 153 (attacks upon the religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc of any particular group or class or upon the founders and prophets of a religion) and 119 A of Kerala police act (disgracing women in public) on Vayaykkal Soman.
Vayakkal Soman had made obsecene remarks at women MLAs, K B Ganesh Kumar MLA and R Balakrishna Pillai. Both his SIMs are not working. The police have intensified the search with the help of cyber cell. BJP district president G Gopinath said that the speech was unintentional.
