THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been hinted that revenue minister E Chandrasekharan is dissatisfied with the government's action in connection with the Harrison Company case. The minister has also complained that revenue secretary is also not taking a supportive stand.

Revenue principal secretary P H Kurian will retire in January. The minister is hoping to appoint someone as per his direction. However, the government plans to bring another person to the position, who had taken several controversial stands during the tenure of UDF government. Sources close to the minister say that he may resign if his instructions are not approved.

Chandrasekharan is also dissatisfied since he has not yet received a legal advice to file a review plea against the High Court verdict that quashed the government action to take over 38,000 acre land held by Harrison Malayalam and affiliating companies. It has been reported that the legal advice is purposefully being delayed due to the intervention of some higher officials.

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday set aside the order of MG Rajamanikkam, Special Officer, appointed by the Government under the Kerala Land Conservancy Act taking over the land in the possession of Harrisons Malayalam Ltd (HML) spread over five districts in the State and directing it to vacate from the land.

The land consists of around 30,000 acres owned and possessed by the company for plantation activities.
