PANAJI: Yet another moment of pride for Malayalam Cinema as Lijo Jose Pellissery and Chemban Vinod Jose secured the Golden Peacock Award for Best Director and Best Actor respectively at IFFI 2018, Goa. Both were awarded for the film 'Ee.Ma.Yau.'. This is the first time that Malayalam Cinema got awarded twice at the IFFI.
Last year, Parvathy Thiruvoth was awarded the Golden Peacock Award for her performance in ‘Take-Off’.
Donbass, an Ukrainian film directed by Sergi Loznitsa won The Golden Peacock Award for the Best Film. Anastasia Pustovit was awarded The Golden Peacock Award for the best actress for her performance in the movie ‘When The Trees Fall’. ‘Respeto’, a Philippines movie directed by Alberto Monteras received the ‘Best Debut Feature Film of a Director’ award.
Director Praveen Morchhale accepted the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi medal for his Ladakhi film, Walking With The Wind. Milko Lazarov's ‘Aga’ won the Special Jury award. Other films Volcano and To Let received special mentions.
