THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP will observe indefinite fast in front of the Secretariat, demanding the government to remove all restrictions imposed on Sabarimala. BJP leader A N Radhakrishnan will begin indefinite fast from December 3 in front of the secretariat. BJP state secretary P S Sreedharan Pillai announced this at a press conference here on Thursday.
Two weeks’ strike programmes have been planned. Each day will helmed by different district committees. State general secretary M T Ramesh is the coordinator. Secretaries J R Padmakumar, Sivankutty and Sajeev are assistant coordinators.
The strikers’ demand includes withdrawal of fake cases against devotees, providing basic amenities for devotees and taking action against police officers who had allegedly trapped BJP leader K Surendran in fake cases.
From November 5 to 10 Ayyappa Devotees’ meetings will be held at Panchayat levels. A four-member team of MPs led by BJP National general secretary Saroj Pandya will reach Kochi on November 2.
They will hold discussion with Sabarimala Karma Samithy, BJP Core Committee, Pandalam Palace representatives and Thantri family members. On November 2 in Kochi, statements will be recorded from people who were harassed by police in Sabarimala.
The team may also meet the governor. Hindu Aikya Vedi president K P Sasikala’s son will file a defamatory case against S P Yatheesh Chandra for his allegedly rude behaviour against his mother,” Pillai said.
Pillai said that he would join hands with PC George MLA over Sabarimala issue and they would stand on the same platform in the assembly. “But I’m not sure whether he will walk into the NDA,” he added.
