rakhi-krishna

KOLLAM: Majority of students of Kollam Fathima college had deposed before the college-appointed seven-member inquiry commission that Rakhi Krishna, the college student who committed suicide recently, was made to stand in the exam hall and cruelly humiliated by the teacher in the class after alleging that she had copied in the exam.

The college appointed the commission to probe the incident in which Rakhi committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train after he was expelled from the exam hall for allegedly copying in the exam.

Meanwhile, the accused teachers have stuck to their earlier stand that they intervened only as per law. The commission comprises three teachers of the college, a retired teacher, two representatives of parents and college students’ union chairman.

The inquiry report will be submitted to the principal on Monday. The Management will go for penal action on the basis of the report.

The police have already filed a case for unnatural death and has started investigation. Police had also recorded the statements of the accused teachers and students.

However, East CI Manjulal-led team has not taken a final decision on charging a case against the accused for abetment of suicide.

The churidhar top of Rakhi will be sent to forensic lab. The teachers had alleged that Rakhi had written something on her churidhar top to copy them during the exam.

Meanwhile, students have said they will intensify their protest if the investigation was delayed.

CCTV visuals
Police have got the CCTV visuals of Rakhi going out of the college’s main gate minutes before she committed suicide. She can be seen walking hastily, opening the gate and going out.

It is also clear that the security officials failed to notice Rakhi going out even when the exam was going on. The police have collected the CCTV visuals as part of the investigation.
