THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The meeting held by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with various renaissance organizations has decided to form a woman wall from Kasargode to Thiruvananthapuram on January 1st. SNDP Yogam general seceretary Vellappally Nateshan and Kerala Pulayar Mahasabha general secretary Punnala Sreekumar have formed a committee for protecting renaissance values. Vellappally Nateshan will serve as the chairman and Sreekumar will serve as the secretary.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters that the committee will move forward with the slogan that 'we won't allow anyone to turn Kerala into a lunatic asylum'. C K Vidyasagar, B Raghavan (Vice Chairman), C R Devadas, C P Sugathan, E N Sankaran (Joint Convenors), K Somaprasad M P (Treasurer), P Ramabhadran, K Ramankutti, P K Sajeev, Rajendraprasad, N K Neelakandan, M V Jayaprakash, Advocate K R Surendran, Karimbuzha Raman, Bhaskaran Nair, Seethadevi, T P Kunhumon and K K Suresh are the other executive committee members. More representatives will be included later. An extended general council will be included.
170 people of the 190 invitees participated in the meeting. The meet discussed methods to resist people's attempt to turn Kerala back to old age. A particular group aims at discriminating women. Therefore the committee members have recommended a program by including women. The decision to form a woman wall was taken after this.
NSS, Brahmin Sabha, Sambava Mahasabha, Yogakshema Sabha and Kshathriya Kshema Sabha stayed away from the meeting. Chief Minister said that NSS was supposed to attend the meeting and that he was not informed about their reason for absence. VSDP and All Kerala Dheevara Sabha disagreed with the Supreme Court verdict allowing women of all ages to enter Sabarimala. The leaders raised demands such as appointing non-brahmins at Sabarimala and Guruvayoor, and also to give Malayarayas the rights to the temple.
Minister EP Jayarajan, Vellappally Nateshan and Punnala Sreekumar also participated in the press meet.
