THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ruling party and opposition had a verbal dispute in the assembly over Sabarimala issue. The opposition staged a protest in front of the dais following the Chief Minister’s remark to the ‘satyagraha’ called by UDF. Chennithala had said that MLAs V S Sivakumar, Parakkal Abdulla and Dr.A S Jayarajan will perform ‘satyagraha’ in front of the assembly. Both the leader of opposition and chief minister had talked two times each, and opposition members alleged that Chennithala was not given time to reply. The members of ruling party also came in front of the dais to resist the opposition and this led to dramatic scenes in the assembly. The assembly was adjourned following this.
Chennithala had started his speech by saying that assembly procedures won’t be disrupted today. He later clarified that three MLAs will perform ‘satyagraha’. Chief Minister mocked the oppsoitin regarding this and alleged that UDF is trying to give support to the protest staged by BJP.
Meanwhile, Chennithala said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is alleging UDF ties to RSS, while he appointed C P Sugathan, who blocked women at Sabarimala as the convenor of woman wall. He also said that UDF does not need CM’s approval for staging the protest.
The opposition shouted slogans near the Speaker's podium, forcing Sreeramakrishnan to rush through the day's business and adjourn the House.
