KOLLAM: Fathima college Management has suspended six teachers in connection with the suicide of college student Rakhi Krishna who had jumped in front of a moving train.

The six teachers were in charge of the examination.

The action comes at the end of a strong protest held by SFI students inside and outside college since Monday morning.

Following the discussions held with the protesters, teachers Nisha Thomas, Lilly and Sajimon were suspended, pending inquiry. Within hours, the management informed that chief exam superintendent, deputy superintendent, invigilator and two teachers in charge of examination had been suspended.

But in the notice of the manager, the teachers’ names were avoided and just the post of their exam duties were mentioned.

Meanwhile, it is alleged that the action announced are a ploy of the management to calm down the students’ agitation.

Meanwhile, the seven-member commission appointed to probe Rakhi’s suicide didn’t file the report on Monday.
The delay has been attributed to the differences of opinion among Commission members.

The Commission members including College Union Chairman took a stand against report that allegedly protected the teachers.
If the suspended staff are proved to be innocent then there is no obstruction in taking hem back.

Clean chit for teachers
In the in-house Commission report, it is said that there is no allegations against the teachers. It is said that the teachers were just abiding by the rules.

The class mates of Rakhis said that she was made to stand in the class room, alleging that she copied in the exam. She was mentally tortured and expelled from the class room.

Meanwhile, Rakhi’s father Radhakrishnan has said that he had no faith in the investigation team appointed by the college.
