THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Did Deepa Nishanth lose her parliament seat over plagiarism row. Some online media had carried news that Deepa Nishanth, a teacher of Thrissur Rama Varma College, had lost her chance to contest the Lok Sabha polls as a Left independent candidate over plagiarism issue. Unconfirmed reports said that the CPM had planned to field her in the Chalakudy constituency instead of Innocent MP and that she had also taken a favourable stand on it.

Talking to Kerala Kaumudi online, she said, “I am not aware of this news. When did all this happen? I have not tried to enter politics and have never even thought about it. I have no intention to contest as an independent candidate and I don’t wish to be a candidate of any political party.” She was very active in the social media and there were news that her silence on the Sabarimala issue was eyeing the Lok Sabha seat. Her presence in party programmes in Thrissur was also a part of it. The report says that the party had planned to field her either in Chalakudy or in some other constituency.

Meantime, criticisms have been showered against her in the social media over the plagiarism row. Many personalities including writers have come forward against the issue.
