shobha-surendran

KOCHI: BJP State general secretary Shobha Surendran has said she will not pay the fine levied by the high court in response to the petition filed by her against the police action in Sabarimala.

“There are also courts above the high court. The decision is to move the Supreme Court against the high court order. I don’t need cheap publicity. We can’t accept everything that the court says. I don’t know about tendering apology in the court. I have to check with my counsel about this,” he told a private channel on Tuesday.

The high court had rejected the petition of Sobha Surendran and imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh, pointing out that she was using the high court for her cheap publicity.

The court observed that the Shobha has made awkward allegations in the petition submitted by her.

The court said that the action should be a lesson for all. Soon after this Shobha’s advocate tendered an apology on behalf of her but the court was not ready to relent. The court ordered her to pay a fine of Rs 25000 for wasting the court’s time and asked her to hand over the amount to Legal Service Authority.
