THRISSUR: Kerala health department has informed that it was awaiting the lab test reports of one person who is under treatment for Congo fever symptoms and about 20 persons who had mingled with him are also under observation.

The blood sample of the patient was sent to Manipal and Pune labs for expert examination. The report is obtained quickly if the result is positive but if it is negative, the result usually get delayed.

DMO Dr K J Reena has said that there is no need for anxiety over the disease. Any doubt should be brought to the notice of doctors. The patient is currently in an isolated room in a private hospital. The hospital staff tending to him are also being observed. The disease will not be spread through air but only through blood and body discharges. The person under treatment is a Malappuram native; he was working in a slaughter house in UAE.
He was subjected to treatment after he returned from Dubai with urinary infection. Currently he doesn’t have Congo fever. He will be discharged from the hospital after confirming once again negative test result.
