MALAPPURAM: New services from Karippur international airport will commence on Wednesday. A Saudi airlines flight will start from Jeddah at 3:10 am and will reach Karippur at 11 am. The flight will be welcomed with water salute by alirport fire unit. This plane will return to Jeddah at 12:50 pm. Saudi airlines has started four services to Jeddah and three services to Riyad in December. Schedule till December 29th was declared by the airlines and the schedule will be changed in January.

Saudi airlines has arranged A 330-300 category planes for service. The services were temporirily stopped for the reconstruction of runway on 2015 May 1. Though the works were completed on 2017 March 1, planes were not allowed to start service.

52 planes of Air India, Saudi airlines and Emirates had ongoing services to and from Karippur on a weekly basis. The services began following protests of expats.
