KOCHI: It was an emotional time for everyone at Maharajas as Manoharan and Bhoopathi-Abhimanyu’s parents returned to the land that received the deceased body of their son. “My dear son….”, they cried out.
Manoharan and Bhoopathi was welcomed to the college with slogans. As they stepped out of the car, the emotions ran high as Arjun, who was injured in the stabbings, helped them to their seats. There was a smiling portrait of Abhimanyu on the stage and tears ran down every face.
Abhimanyu’s parents were invited to the college by his friends as part of College Union programs which also served as a memorial for their beloved friend. The program was named ‘Odio Communal’- the Spanish word for ‘Death to communalism’, the last words written by Abhimanyu on the walls of Maharajas. The College Union Chairman Arun Jagadeesan presided the function. Actor Harisree Ashokan was the chief guest.
