THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM local leaders have threatened and assaulted a woman party worker who had put up a Facebook post in favour of traditions and customs in Sabarimala.
The complainant is Nedumangadu Pulippara native Nima. She alleged that Municipal Councillor had reached her house and threatened her to withdraw the post and later she was manhandled under his leadership.
In the attack, Nima and her 12 year old son Kannan got injured. She had been under treatment in hospital for five days but police didn’t visit the hospital to record her statement. “Even though I went to the police station in person and gave the complaint, no action was taken. Now I constantly receive threats through phone; party men frequent my house on bikes and threaten me,” she alleged.
Meanwhile, BJP district president S Suresh has demanded police action on Nima’s complaint. She visited party general secretary A N Radhakrishnan at the strike pandal in front of Secretariat and requested for help.
Nima is CITU-led Tailor union unit convenor and Ayalkoottaa Samithi office-bearer. Her husband Lalu is a branch committee member. She said the party also didn’t came to her help in spite of giving a complaint to party leadership.
On her Facebook post, Nima had said that though the verdict is that of the Supreme Court she was ready to wait till she was 50, to meet naishtik brahmachari (celibate) Sabarimala Ayyappan.
It was this post that had provoked the party leadership. The demand of the party leadership was to withdraw the post and to put up another post according to the instruction of the party. As she was not ready to give in to this demand, they allegedly attacked her.
