KANNUR: Kannur international airport was dedicated to the nation Sunday morning. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the first flight at 10.06 am. The inaugural flight, the Air India Express to Abu Dhabi, was flagged off at 10.10 am. A long cherished dream of the state has now become a reality. The fourth international airport in the state is a milestone for the state and a moment of pride for the country. Air India Express Jumbo flight for the first flight have already been flown to Kannur from Mumbai. The insides and seats of the flight have been renovated.

The passengers were invited to terminal building and received by Minister E P Jayarajan, other ministers and special guests.

Passengers were given boarding pass at Check-in counter at 7.15 am and at 7:30 am cultural programmes commenced at the main venue. Minister Ramachandran Kadannapally inaugurated the VIP launch at departure area at 7.45 am and at 7.55am Minister A K Saseendran inaugurated the ATM.

Minister K K Sailaja inaugurated Foreign Exchange at departure area at 8.05 am.
