ALAPUZHA: The evaluation of the panel including Deepa Nishanth, author and Sree Kerala Varma College lecturer, for the literary competitions in the 59th State School Festival, has been cancelled. It was revaluated following the cancellation. There were widespread protests after she was made a judge of the Malayalam essay writing competition. She faced the ire of ABVP and KSU activists at the venue of the school Kalolsavam here on Saturday.
Many had lodged complaints at the education department for making her a jury member. K V Mohan Kumar, DPI, had mentioned that the complaints lodged by many including KSU will be considered. Jury member Santhosh Echikanam revaluated the selection for 14 literary competitions.
Deepa has been at the centre of a plagiarism controversy.
