KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi harshly criticised the Oommen Chandy Government in his speech delivered at the inaugural function of the Kannur International Airport. They circulated that something in connection with the Kannur Airport was inaugurated during their rule and the people has not yet understood what it is, mocked Pinarayi.

The first question that raised was ‘An Airport at Kannur’. Many were of the question whether there were so much people in Kannur. We were able to change that notion. The role of the then aviation minister C M Ibrahim is very big.

The then government didn’t show any interest to carry out any work in connection with the airport during 2001-2006. V S Achuthanandan who came to power in 2006 gave a new lease of life. Though the Oommen Chandy Government who came to power made some further activities in 2011, it moved in a slow pace, he said.
