THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC is getting ready for an overhaul ahead of Lok Sabha election.

KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran will fly to Delhi with the mission to complete the process of KPCC reorganisation by December 20. Though Mullapally also plans to attend the Parliament session, he would be meeting Congress president Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik and Senior leader A K Antony.

He has already held talks with leaders Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala. He is of the opinion that reorganisation is unavoidable. With the appointment of new president and working presidents, current KPCC leadership has ceased to exist. Office rooms of most leaders in Indira Bhavan have remained vacant.

Mullapally’s evaluation is that he won’t be able to handle the situation alone in the absence of a proper leadership as the Lok Sabha election is nearing. Hence, he is insisting on reorganisation of KPCC.

Since MI Shanavas is no more, Kodikunnil Suresh and K Sudhakaran are working presidents. Indirabhavan office in-charge Kodikunnil Suresh is currently helping Mullapally.
Sudhakaran is concentrating only on Malabar region.

Meanwhile, a new working president instead of Shanawaz is unlikely. During the re-orgranisation, vice-president position will be retained. There is little chance for V D Satheeshan, Lali Vincent and Bharathipuram Sasi to be vice-presidents.

Interests of Ommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala will also be considered while considering leaders to the posts of general secretary and secretary. There is a chance for an overhaul of the KPCC after retaining one third of the existing office-bearers.

There is also suggestion of one man one party post in the organisation. In this, weightage will be given to practical aspects.
