ALAPPUZHA: Though there was no golden cup or trophies, there was no lack of spirit among student competitors. The fight for the virtual cup is moving towards photo finish. As per the latest point level, Palakkad has one point more than Kozhikode. Palakkad has secured 867 points and Kozhikode won 866 points.

Results of 15 competitions are yet to come and hence the topper can’t be decided now.

Kozhikode students arrived in Alappuzha with the hope to win 13th cup as it had been the topper for the past 12 consecutive years.

Over the past several years, Palakkad had been ill-fated to lose the cup by a small margin. In the youth festival held in Thrissur last year, Kozhikode defeated Palakkad by just two points.
Before that, during the Kalotsavam held in Kannur, Kozhikode won by just three points. Now Kannur and Thrissur are in the third place with 841 points.
Every hour, the leads are changing.

On Sunday, Palakkad was the topper but by noon, Kozhikode and Palakkad had equal points. By evening 4, Kozhikode took a lead of four points but by 7:30 evening it lost that lead.
