SANNIDHANAM: The sale of appams in Sabarimala has been seriously affected by the fall in number of devotees going to Sabarimala, according to reports.
Most of the devotees reaching Sabarimala now are from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. Though they are buying Aravana, they are not showing any interest towards Appam. Making appams hard by reducing the water quantity during its preparation is said to be the reason for less number of takers for this prasadam among devotees from other states.
The ratio of the sale of Aravana and appam is said to be 100:10. Now Devaswom board has a stock of 90,000 packets of appam, which includes the production on Sunday. If the sale doesn’t increases, there are chances of appams getting stale.
Meanwhile, Devaswm hopes for a fillip in the sale as they except an increase in the flow of Malayali devotees within two days.
