THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:BJP has called for a hartal on Tuesday in Thiruvananthapuram district in protest against police action on BJP workers who clashed with the police and tried to barge into the Secretariat compound.

The protestorsട demand was that the government intervene to end the indefinite fast by BJP leader A N Radhakrishnan in front of the Secretariat. He has been fasting, demadning withdrawal of Prohibitory orders in Sabarimala.

Police had fired tear gas shells and water cannon at the protesters. During the tussle between the police and workers, a BJP woman worker’s head was injured. At a point of time, some stones were also seen hurled at police, who were seen exercising maximum restraint.
