THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leaders alleged that there is corruption behind government consent allowing bars and beer parlours to sell foreign made foreign liquor. They also demanded an investigation on the deal made by government.
“M. Ummar and I opposed the finance bill allowing bars to sell foreign made foreign liquor at the subject committee. But it was ignored. Government tried to baffle Legislative Assembly on this matter. They first informed that the consent has been given for 15 companies, but after the bill was passed we realized it was 17. Kerala is going to be under large corporates. They are going to revel in Kerala with their casinos and dance bars”, Congress leader Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan said.
“Chief Minister is trying to stop us from raising this issue of corruption by trying to adjourn Assembly hastily. The contract consents all bars, beer-wine parlours and airport lounges to sell foreign made foreign liquor. Ministry of excise and Commissioner Rishi Raj Singh is involved in this scam. Singh’s report that recommends the start of Bangalore model beer pub should be made public. We will move legally against this scam”, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said.
