PIRAVOM: His Beatitude Catholicos Thomas I and Joseph Mor Gregorios- Metropolitan of Kochi Diocese were leading the prayers inside Piravom church. At around 1.30 p.m. police officer within 36 kilometres of Piravom church were present, which was welcomed with tolling bells. Devotees rushed inside the church.

The church gate was locked by the devotees. The police tried to rip off the chains with little success. Threats of suicide erupted from the devotees and the police had to retreat by 3.30 p.m.

His Beatitude Catholicos Thomas I later said in press meet that they won’t let go off their faith even if they had to die.
