THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The vigilance have arrested a veterinary doctor for accepting a bribe of Rs 2000 for performing the post-mortem of a cow. Doctor Abdul Nazar, native of Makkarapparmbu was arrested. He was working in Koottilangady veterinary hospital in Malappuram. The doctor asked bribe for performing the post mortem of a cow owned by Praveen, native of Pookkottu in Malappuram.
Praveen's cow died one month ago after suffering from an illness. Praveen asked the doctor to perform the post mortem in order to claim the insurance amount. Abdul Nazar asked Praveen to pay him Rs 2000 when he recieves the insurance amount. Praveen recieved Rs 50000 as an insurance amount last week and Abdul Nazar demanded the amount from Praveen. Praveen informed this to the vigilance.
Nazar was arrested by Malappuram unit DySP Ramachandran.

Nazar is the 11th government officer to be arrested within five months duration.
