THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When Rahul Gandhi spots a broad smile in the wake of thumping victory for Congress in Assembly elections in Hindi lands, down south in Kerala, the State Congress’ dreams also get wings. When BJP seems to be scoring in Sabairmala issue, the Congress sees this victory as the signs of people showing the BJP its exit route.
The State Congress’ evaluation is that in five states about 45 per cent minority vote-bank went in favour of the Congress, undermining the BJP agenda for a Congress-free India. The Congress also aims at minority votes when they campaign that the CPM is also supporting the BJP agenda of a Congress-free India.
In this state where 54.73 pc is majority communities and 44.94 pc is minority communities, the BJP has not been able to overtake this minority strength. Yesterday’s election result also shows that defeating this strength will be difficult for the BJP. Though this doesn’t give anything for the CPM to be happy about, Congress’ soft-Hindutva stand in North India will be a weapon for them there.
When the Left thinks that in Sabarimala issue they could get the support of Dalit-backward communities, they feel that the insecure of these sections in North India will also come to their advantage.
